Wendi and Diego are great kids and every once in a while they deserve an outing to the ice cream shop. I love this picture. They are so funny. We had the best ice cream at this place. Yumm! Yumm!

Piano Competition
Last Saturday Wendi had her annual piano competition. She did really well. Last year she got a Superior rating. This year, she received a Superior + rating. The best you can get is a Superior ++. She gets better every year, so she is determined to get a better score next year. I love that she loves the piano so much.
Building Fun Stuff
While Wendi and I spend our Saturdays at her dance practice, Diego and Ruben have fun building little race cars at Lowe's. Seems a bit unfair to me. :)
Dr. Seuss
Target had an activity for Dr. Seuss's birthday and the upcoming movie, The Lorax. Diego got to go and had a good time. We can't wait to see the movie.
Fundraising
Wendi's dance class is going to Lubbock to compete and we need money. So, if you are around Ft. Worth you will see 7-10 girls asking for donations and dancing their little hearts away. We are almost done with the fundraising. Thank goodness.

Austin Zoo
Awww!! Here we all are. This was right before the most awesome train ride ever. We had a good time in Austin and can't wait to go back.
Austin Zoo
If you want your children to get all slobbered on by stinky goats and other slimy animals, then the Austin zoo is the place to go. Seriously though, the Austin Zoo is pretty fun. It's not as big as the ones in Ft. Worth and Dallas but we had a great time.
Austin Marathon
Can you see the set up for the Livestrong Marathon in the background? We were there the day before the big marathon. We had so much fun exploring downtown.
Texas Capitol
Our second stop was the capitol. We could even walk there from our hotel. Austin is such a quirky, weird city. It's hard to imagine that it is the capitol of Texas. Texas being so conservative and Republican. It's quite a dichotomy. Nevertheless, seeing the capitol is always fun.
Awesome!!!
We stayed in dowtown Austin and this was right next to our hotel. I was so excited. My kids not so much. But that's okay, Diego will pose with anything. Ha! Ha!
Austin
It rained most of the weekend, but that didn't stop us from exploring the city. Don't they look happy?
Austin
For President's Day weekend we went to Austin. It was so much fun. Our first stop was the Children's Museum. If you have children, you need to go there. It's a lot of fun and very hands on.
Happy Birthday My Dear!!!
Ruben turned 35 on February 15th. We love him so very much. He is a wonderful husband and father. Happy Birthday!!!
Valentine's Day
We had a fun Valentine's day. We had a heart shaped pizza and lots of goodies. We ♥ Valentine's Day!! Happy Valentine's Day to you.
Proud Daddy
Ruben and Wendi have been going to the Daddy Daughter dance at her school for 5 years now. I think it is their favorite day of the year. Ruben is such a good dad. I'm so happy when I see these two together. I love the way they love each other so much. We prepare all month for this special day, shopping for the dress and finding all the little accessories. This year, we even tried little press on nails. Wendi looked so grown up. The dance this year was held at the Rangers Hall of Fame Ballroom. It was pretty special.
Ballet Folklorico
Wendi's dance class is preparing to go to a competition and she was so excited to get her jumpsuit in preparation to the big even. The competition will be in March and they are practicing very hard.
9 1/2 years old
Wendi has a summer birthday, which means that she never gets to celebrate her birthday in her classroom. Well, we decided to celebrate her half birthday this year. We took donuts to her classroom and her classmates sang Happy Birthday to her. She was happy. I can't believe she is almost 10. Wow!
Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead
Have you seen this movie, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead? It's really interesting. I wanted to try the juicing for a few days but I can't find a good affordable juicer. I don't want to spend $400 on a juicer. Basically, you juice up all your fruits and vegetables and that's what you eat for 10 days. Of course, you can do it for longer but I doubt I could even do it for 10 days. You lose tons of weight and that sounds wonderful. I hope I find a juicer soon. I want to try it. Do you know of a good juicer that's a bit more affordable? By the way, watch the movie. It's good and it's on Netflix.
Leather Jacket
Diego has very specific wants when it comes to fashion. He's been wanting a leather jacket for as long as I can remember. We found this little jacket on clearance and he was one happy kid. I rocked up my boys and took lots of pictures. Yes, we are crazy!
Darth Vader
Guess what Diego bought with all his tooth fairy money? Yup, he has become Darth Vader. His new obsession is Star Wars! I'm so happy. I love Star Wars. We've seen almost all the movies. We need Episode II and III. Fun! Fun!
Great Book
This is a really great book. You should read it. If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with my children's education. In fact, I drive one hour twice a day to get my kids to their school. I did not like my neighborhood school and put them in a nearby charter school. I love their school. It is small and I love their curriculum. They teach a grade ahead in all subjects. There is lots of homework and lots of parent involvement required. Sometimes it is very taxing on me. My kids really love it. I think it is practically perfect except for the fact that they don't have a band or orchestra program. Music is very important to me but not as important as their core subjects. I'm telling you this because public schools are failing our children in a big way. Basically, if you don't live in an affluent area, your children will suffer. So, the rich get richer and the poor stay poor. I don't think that's what the education system in this country wanted to achieve. This book talks about all the problems in schools, but doesn't give any answers as to how we can make it better. You might enjoy this book. You can read it free online. If you read it, tell me what you think. I've never wanted to home school but if for some reason my kids' school starts to fail in the areas that are most important to me, then I think I will have to home school. Ahhhhh!!! I guess those two education degrees hanging on my wall will finally come in handy. :) By the way, I still don't have a job. I think I am afraid to go back to teaching. Just today, during lunch duty, I made a little boy cry for 20 minutes all because I told him not to share his food. I didn't even say it mean, I swear! Oh, what am I going to do when I grow up?
